Spesso guidare una moto non è soltanto un modo di lasciarsi andare a qualche ora di libertà all'aria aperta per semplice divertimento. Decidere di salire in moto, magari per affrontare un viaggio, significa anche voler dare una svolta alla propria vita, in ogni suo aspetto. Viaggiare in moto è prima di tutto viaggiare dentro noi stessi, abbracciando il cambiamento del nostro umore e delle nostre attitudini nei confronti del mondo che ci circonda, come fosse il panorama che scorre rapido dietro alla visiera del nostro casco, quando attraversiamo strade a noi familiari o quando esploriamo paesaggi sconosciuti.

Non importa se saliamo in moto per una gita sulla Riviera Ligure o se ci avventuriamo ai confini del mondo. C'è chi come Jennifer Maria incarna lo spirito del viaggiatore in moto, pieno di meraviglia e di voglia di scoperta.

- Presentati e raccontaci la tua storia nel mondo delle moto. Cosa ha acceso il tuo interesse?

Jennifer Maria: Ciao a tutti! Sono Jennifer Maria, grazie per questa opportunità di raccontare la mia passione. Sono sempre stata circondata dalle moto; mio padre possiede moto da quando aveva 14 anni e le ha sempre amate. Da piccola ero spesso la sua passeggera, e andare a fare un giro in moto con lui era davvero emozionante. Mi divertivo tantissimo ad aggrapparmi a lui per andare più veloce di quanto mia madre trovasse accettabile! Per me spostarsi in macchina è solo un modo per andare dal punto A al punto B, ma in moto è tutto diverso, sei a contatto con gli elementi, sei sballottato dal vento, e ti senti libero. Fare l’esame per la patente della moto ha letteralmente cambiato la mia vita (lo so, sembra esagerato), ma la sicurezza che ti dà guidare una moto è incredibile e ha influenzato ogni aspetto della mia vita.

- Descrivi il tuo giro in moto preferito. Che tipo di paesaggio ti emoziona di più?

Jennifer Maria: Questa domanda è difficile... mi piacciono due scenari completamente opposti, dipende dal mio stato d’animo. Amo andare in montagna su percorsi ghiaiosi oppure dirigermi verso il mare su strade tortuose, fermandomi in tutti i piccoli caffè lungo il tragitto. Lo scorso fine settimana io e mio marito David siamo andati da Bergamo (dove viviamo) fino a Rapallo sulla Riviera Ligure, ed è stato un giro in moto da sogno!

- Qual è il tuo consiglio migliore per una strada o una destinazione imperdibile per gli appassionati di moto? Perché questo posto è così speciale per te?

Jennifer Maria: Il mio giro in moto più emozionante è stato sicuramente la Bartang Valley in Tagikistan. Non credo di aver mai visto una bellezza così selvaggia e primordiale. Il percorso è lungo circa 415 km e il punto più alto è a 4.280 metri di altitudine. Il paesaggio era incredibile, c'era di tutto: tratti sabbiosi, paesaggi lunari, attraversamenti di fiumi! Abbiamo impiegato circa tre giorni per completare il tragitto, e torneremo sicuramente un giorno per ripercorrere quei luoghi magici.

- Portaci nel tuo garage. Che moto hai e come la usi? Per brevi giri o come fedele compagna per viaggi epici?

Jennifer Maria: Ho una BMW G650 Xcountry che ho usato per il mio viaggio intorno al mondo, è una moto leggera per l’off-road. Da poco ho anche una vecchia Ducati Monster, perfetta per i viaggi al mare che ho menzionato!

- Destinazioni da sogno. Se tu potessi salire in sella ed esplorare qualsiasi luogo nel mondo, dove andresti?

Jennifer Maria: Sicuramente tornerei alla Bartang, oppure andrei al lago Song-Köl in Kirghizistan. È un lago alpino nella regione settentrionale di Naryn, circondato da bellissimi cavalli e yurte.

- Indossare il casco è un rituale per ogni motociclista. Cosa ti passa per la testa quando ti prepari, accendi la moto e parti?

Jennifer Maria: Per prima cosa penso "Spero che si accenda" (ho avuto qualche problema ultimamente!). Poi, a dire il vero, non penso a molto altro. Quando guido, è probabilmente l'unico momento in cui smetto di pensare e riflettere sulla vita, sul lavoro, su quando compreremo una casa, sui pagamenti delle tasse e tutto il resto... io mi limito a guidare! Sorrido dentro il casco, la moto è letteralmente pura gioia.

- Hai un modello o tipo di moto preferito? In che modo migliora la tua esperienza di guida?

Jennifer Maria: La mia moto preferita sarà per sempre la mia BMW Xcountry, visto che mi ha portato in giro per il mondo. C'è un legame speciale che non si può spezzare in alcun modo!

- Raccontaci la moto più strana che hai avuto il piacere di guidare.

Jennifer Maria: Direi che è di nuovo la mia BMW Xcountry, che è stata completamente modificata per il viaggio intorno al mondo. Abbiamo cambiato tutto, le sospensioni, abbiamo aggiunto due serbatoi di carburante in più, e tutto l'anteriore è stato modificato, compresi il faro, le forcelle, e molto altro ancora. È davvero una moto unica nel suo genere.

Riding a motorbike isn’t just about enjoying a few hours of freedom in the open air for fun. Choosing to get on a bike, especially for a journey, often reflects a desire to bring change into your life in every sense. Traveling by motorbike is, above all, a journey within ourselve, embracing shifts in our moods and attitudes toward the world around us, much like the scenery that quickly passes behind the visor of our helmet as we ride through familiar roads or explore new horizons.

It doesn’t matter whether we’re cruising along the Ligurian Riviera or venturing to the ends of the earth. Riders like Jennifer Maria embody the spirit of the motorbike traveler, filled with wonder and a thirst for discovery.

- Introduce yourself and share the story of your journey into the world of motorcycles. What sparked your interest?

Jennifer Maria: Hello all! I'm Jennifer Maria, thanks for having me. I have always been around motorbikes; my dad has owned bikes since he was 14 and always had a massive love for them. I rode pillion with him from a young age, and going for a ride with him was the most exciting thing. I always had fun clinging onto the back and going faster than Mum said was acceptable! For me, being in a car is about getting from A to B, but on a bike you are out in the elements, getting blown about and feeling wild. Taking my bike test was literally life-changing for me (dramatic I know), but the confidence that riding bikes brings is incredible and has affected every part of my life.

- Describe your favourite motorcycle ride. What type of scenery do you find most exciting?

Jennifer Maria: That's a hard one. I like two complete opposites depending on my mood. I either love riding to the mountains on gravel tracks, or heading to the sea on twisty roads, stopping at all the little cafes along the way. At the weekend, my husband David and I rode from Bergamo (where we live) to Rapallo on the Ligurian Riviera, and it was pretty dreamy!

- Share your best recommendation for a must-visit road or destination for motorcycle enthusiasts. Why is this place so special for you?

Jennifer Maria: My most exciting ride was definitely the Bartang Valley in Tajikistan. I don't think I've ever seen such raw and wild beauty before. The route is about 415 KM long, and the highest point is 4,280 M. The terrain was incredible and had pretty much everything: sandy patches, desert moonscapes, river crossings! The route took about 3 days to complete. We'll definitely go back one day to ride that magical place again.

- Take us into your garage. What motorcycle is parked there, and how do you use it? Is it for short rides or your trusted companion for epic journeys?

Jennifer Maria: I have a BMW G650 Xcountry which I used on my world trip; she's a light offroad bike. I also recently got an old school Ducati Monster for those seaside trips I mentioned earlier! Dream destinations await. 

- If you could hop on your motorcycle and explore any place in the world, where would you go next?

Jennifer Maria: Either the Bartang, or Song-Köl lake in Kyrgyzstan. It's an alpine lake in northern Naryn Region full of beautiful horses and yurts.Putting on the helmet is a ritual for every rider. 

- What goes through your mind when you gear up, start your bike, and hit the road?

Jennifer Maria: Firstly, 'I hope it starts' (I've had a few problems lately!), and then, to be honest, not much. Riding is probably the only time I stop thinking and pondering life plans. I stop thinking about work, when we can buy a house, tax payments, etc., and just ride. I'm just smiling in a helmet; riding is literally pure joy.

- Do you have a preferred motorcycle model or type? How does it contribute to improving your riding experience?

Jennifer Maria: My favourite motorcycle will forever be my BMW Xcountry as she took me around the world, there's a bond there which can't be broken!

Share the story of the coolest or most unconventional motorcycle you've ever had the pleasure of riding. What made it memorable?

Jennifer Maria: Mmm, I think that would be my BMW Xcountry again. She was completely remodelled for the world trip. Everything was changed: suspension, added two more fuel tanks, the entire front end is modified, like the 8' headlight, forks, etc. She's one of a kind.
